About Me

Dedication. Innovation. Diversity.

I am a first-year student at UNC Law currently seeking opportunities to further the rights and opportunities of marginalized people through legal-oriented internship experiences. Strengths include a never-ending desire to learn, extensive organizing experience, and a patient personality.

At NC State, the university where I completed my undergraduate degree, I studied Business Administration with concentrations in Human Resources and Information Technology, as well as a minor in Russian Studies. During my undergraduate career, I received a final Cumulative GPA of 3.855/4.0 and a Major GPA of 4.0/4.0. Over my time at NC State, I have gained experience working for the EEOC, political campaigns, nonprofit organizations, and in sales. I also was heavily involved on campus at NC State, where I served in officer roles, including as Director and President, for multiple organizations. Following graduation, I was accepted into UNC Law, where I finished the Fall 2018 semester with a GPA of 3.247. After this semester, I decided to take a leave of absence to determine if law was the right path for me. I spent time working in compliance at State Employees Credit Union (SECU) and on the campaign team of Saige Martin, the successful candidate for Raleigh City Council District D. After a year of reflection, I have returned to UNC Law; excited for the challenges ahead of me and re-energized to pursue a legal-oriented career.

In my work, I strive to fulfill three guiding values:

  1. I focus on dedication, avidly going above and beyond in every position. I have regularly stayed in the office longer than scheduled to finish projects, pushed for extra door-to-door canvasses, and taken on extra work to make sure that new programs went off the ground smoothly. I take pride in my work and am willing to put in the extra time it takes to make my programs and projects a success.

  2. I focus on innovating and using new technology, always trying to create new programs and ideas. During my time as a student leader, I regularly integrated new ideas into my organizations and helped support the ideas of others. For example, I implemented a new civic involvement program for the GLBT Community Alliance. This program consisted of a series of non-partisan debate watch parties, urging students to early vote and do their personal research on candidates, and a series of walk to the polls events during early voting. I am also a strong believer in the use of technology to achieve goals. During my time as Director of Diversity Outreach for Student Government, I created a diversity-focused student organization database. I, as well as other student leaders, actively used this database to promote events, find contacts, and build connections between groups on campus. I also work hard to learn new technical tools, as can be seen by my second concentration in Information Technology and the wide array of projects one can view on my "Projects" page.

  3. I always try to make diversity a key component of my work. I live by the mantra that an organization will achieve the greatest success by combining the viewpoints of as many diverse groups as possible. I have worked extensively in and with diversity initiatives, including campaigning for the repeal of House Bill 2 as a field organizer, working for the EEOC as an enforcement intern, serving as Director of Diversity Outreach for NC State Student Government, holding the roles of President and Treasurer of the NC State GLBT Community Alliance, serving as a Co-Chair for Students Advocating for Gender Equality (SAGE) at North Carolina State University, and working with at-risk youth as an intern for Haven House Services.
